JAKARTA: Indonesian firefighters on Sunday battled to extinguish a blaze at the country's largest oil refinery, police said, as fire spread to a third fuel storage tank.
Nobody has been injured in the fire, which broke out early Saturday at the fuel depot owned by state oil and gas company Pertamina in Central Java province, provincial police spokesman Djihartono told AFP.
"A storage tank caught fire with several small explosions heard on Saturday. By today, the fire has spread to the third tank. We're trying our best to extinguish it," he said.
"I can't speculate what caused the fire now. We can only investigate the cause of the fire after we put out the flames," he added.
In 2009, a huge fire broke out at Jakarta's main fuel depot as a result of technical faults related to high pressure inside a storage tank. A security officer died in the blaze.
