KARACHI: The PIA Training Centre (PTC) is now an Authorized International Air Transport Association (IATA) Training Centre.
Thus it becomes the first IATA Authorized Training Centre in South Asia, a PIA spokesman said here on Thursday.
He pointed out that the PIA in collaboration with IATA will provide quality training that will benefit the Travel, Cargo Agencies and Regional Airlines.
PIA Training Centre will offer IATA courses for the Aviation Sector. Its instructors will conduct IATA courses at the centre as well as at other locations.
The IATA certified training courses offered initially will include Airline Marketing, Finance, Marketing Management, Ground operations, Cargo, Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) and Airline Cabin Crew training courses etc, while more IATA certified courses will be offered in the future. This initiative will earn additional revenue for the airline, the PIA spokesman added.
Meanwhile, a ceremony was held at PIA Training Centre here on Thursday where the Country Head of IATA (Pakistan), Mustafa Khan, handed over the Authorized IATA Certified Training approval to Deputy Managing Director PIA, Saleem Sayani.
Speaking at the occasion Deputy Managing Director PIA, Saleem Sayani, said that PIA Training Centre has played a major role in creating Airline professionals for the Airlines in the region.
`We are proud to say that most of the Airlines of the region are trained by PIA Training Centre since 1960', he added.
Saleem Sayani congratulated, Dilawar Fareed Beg, Director Training and Development PIA, his team and especially the Employee Training Unit for their immense efforts and initiative for making PTC an Authorized Training Centre of IATA and efforts towards making PTC a centre of excellence and one of the best Training Institutions of the entire region.
Director Training and Development PIA, Dilawar Fareed Beg, also spoke on the occasion.
Country Head IATA, Mustafa Khan, congratulated PIA on becoming IATA Training Partner.
He said that PIA Training Centre is providing training facilities to different airlines and now the PTC will also impart training of a variety of IATA Certified Courses.
Chairman Travel Agents Association of Pakistan, Yahya Polani, Chairman Air Cargo Agents Association of Pakistan, Jamshed Qureshi, General Manager Cargo PIA, Sohail Yaqoob, and General Manager Market Planning PIA, Tahir Niaz also spoke on the occasion.
The Ceremony was attended by Directors and Senior Officials of PIA, Executives of Civil Aviation Authority, Representatives of Travel and Cargo Agencies in Pakistan.
