Sub-standard meat destroyed

KHANPUR: Acting on the complaints of citizens, veterinary doctor here destroyed large quantity of sub-standard meat being readied early Friday at the slaughter house in the tehsil.

Veterinary doctor Tahira Yasmin inspected the slaughter house this morning and discovered weak and sick animals being slaughtered unabatedly for sale in the local market.

The official ordered wastage of the meat which was then thrown away in adjacent Abbasia canal. Citizens Jam Fayyaz, Abdul Aziz, Sheikh Hameeduddin and others appreciated the timely step.

Talking to reporters, the official warned of strict action in case the ill-practice continued at the slaughter house by unscruplous elements.
