  • On Monday, a child was killed while four innocent civilians suffered injuries after unprovoked shelling by Indian troops in Dhundial sector.
  • India has so far committed 749 ceasefire violations to date.

(Karachi) Foreign Office summoned Indian Charge d’Affaires to register Pakistan’s strong protest over repeated ceasefire violations by India, media reported on Monday.

South Asia Director General  Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri summoned Indian Charge d’Affaires Gaurav Ahluwalia to register Pakistan’s strong protest over the ceasefire violations by Indian troops along the Line of Control in Dhudnial, Rakhchikri, Chirikot and Baroh Sectors. As a result of unprovoked shelling, a child was killed while four innocent civilians suffered injuries.

The child, identified as Muhammad Haseeb, was killed in Dhudnial Sector.

In Rakhchikri Sector, two innocent civilians, 26-year-old Waqar Shah and 72 years old Muhammad Sharif suffered critical injuries. In Chirikot Sector, 17 years old Tipu and in Baroh Sector, 25 years old Zareena suffered injuries.

Indian forces have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-caliber mortars and automatic weapons along the LoC and Working Boundary.

These violations by India are a threat to ‘regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation'. “The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws.

Pakistan urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire and instructed them to respect the ceasefire in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary. India has so far committed 749 ceasefire violations to date.
