The Karachi Port handled 129,895 tonnes of cargo comprising 99,752 tonnes of import cargo and 30,143 tonnes of export cargo including 6,279 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 99,752 tonnes comprised of 59,268 tonnes of containerised cargo; 32,391 tonnes of bulk cargo and 8,093 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 30,143 tonnes comprised of 19,043 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,100 tonnes of clinker and 1,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,279 containers comprising of 4,426 containers of import and 1,853 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,186 of 20's and 1,236 of 40's loaded while 04 of 20's and 382 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 514 of 20's and 346 of 40's loaded containers while 35 of 20's and 306 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Greenwich Bridge, Ever Decent, Tectus and ZEA Shanghai carrying containers, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels Ningbo Express, Coral Star, Ever Ursula, GSL Manet, Oriental Jasmine and Matumba carrying containers, tanker and clinker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 220,962 tonnes comprising 200,575 tonnes of import cargo and 20,387 tonnes of export cargo including 3,172 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 200,575 tonnes includes 43,125 tonnes of LNG; 88,375 tonnes of coal; 17,000 tonnes of palm oil; 8,000 tonnes of soyabean; 3,510 tonnes of project cargo and 40,565 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 20,387 tonnes includes 20,387 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,172 containers comprising of 2,135 containers import and 1,073 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were three ships namely Smiley Lady, Eastern Camelia and Pacific Advance carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday afternoon. A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, soyabean, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Yasa Aysen, Ocean Venus, BW Rhine, CSC Cyanele, Antarctica, St. Jean, Bei Hai, Stena Important and JS Fablous carrying coal, diesel oil, crude oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. Maersk Denver, Yasa Aysen and Antarctica carrying containers, coal and crude oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There was one ship namely Maersk Denver carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely MOL Gateway carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
