Railways ministry gets Rs1.1bn subsidy

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Railway Tuesday received a subsidy worth Rs 1.1 billion from the Ministry of Finance to help run affairs of the funds scarce department.

According spokesman of the ministry, the ministry has received the amount after hectic efforts by Minister for Railways Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, who is also currently chairman of the Railway Board.

After receiving the amount, the minister has directed the department concerned to release the amount to staffers who had applied for pension commutation.

Besides, the amount would also be spent to release GP Fund to the employees and those who had their dues outstanding against the ministry under the head of their arrears of increased salaries.
