Senior auditors upgraded from BS-16 to BS-17

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has upgraded the post of Inland Revenue Audit Officer (BS-16) (Senior Auditor) from BS-16 to BS-17 from April 3, 2012.
In this connection, the FBR has issued a notification here on Saturday.
Sources said that over 350 senior auditors would benefit from the up-gradation of the post from Grade 16 to 17. The decision would encourage the Inland Revenue Audit Officers to actively engage in administrative and enforcement actions of the FBR to meet the revenue collection target of Rs 1952 billion by the end of current fiscal. The sales tax related audit expertise of these officers would also help the FBR in implementation of the annual audit plan in the field formations for recovery of the evaded amount. At the same time, the Inland Revenue Audit Officers would also assist the FBR in ongoing national exercise of broadening the tax-base through cross matching of information with third party database.
According to the notification issued by the FBR, in pursuance of approval of Finance Division conveyed vide their O.M. No.1(1)R-I/2007-443 dated April 3, 2012 and Establishment Division's O.M. No.8/4/2010-R.1 dated October 19, 2010, the post of Inland Revenue Audit Officer (BS-16) (Senior Auditor) under the administrative control of Federal Board of Revenue, Islamabad is upgraded from BS-16 to BS-17 with effect from the date of approval of Finance Division i.e. April 3, 2012. This is subject to amendment in Recruitment Rules and filling the upgraded posts in accordance with Establishment Division's D.O. letter No.8/36/2000/R-1 dated 31.12.2008, read with the provisions of SRO No.1126(I)/2010.
