ALI PUR: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Saturday said making the South Punjab into a Seraiki Province is the only solution to the problems, difficulties and sufferings of the people of this area.
Addressing a public meeting here in Ali Pur after inaugurating gas supply scheme, the Prime Minister Gilani said, "I promise you to make Seraiki Province as it is your right."
Gilani said, "Seraiki Province is the only solution to the problems being faced by the people of the areas as you will have your own Assembly, Chief Minister and Courts."
"I promise you, promise on behalf of President Asif Ali Zardari, who is also in Multan today that your rights will be fulfilled as it is the wish of all the people of the area to make this Seraiki Province."
Referring to the claims of fortunate tellers who were saying the government will not complete one year, then they talked about two years and keep on counting days, the Prime Minister said by the grace of God and with the support of the masses, the present government is first democratically elected government entering into fifth year of its tenure.
He said the government won the senate elections; President Zardari made the history by addressing the fifth consecutive joint session of the parliament which is unprecedented.
He said, "Some elements are against us because they knew that if we will remain in the government we will take the decision to form Seraiki Province."
Gilani said, "It is my honour that I am the first Prime Minister to address public meeting".
He said this area belongs to his forefather as they remained associated with this place and even won the elections with the support of the local people.
"We have very strong relations with you due to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto who scarified their lives for the rights of the people," he added.
Gilain said Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave self respect, honour, dignity and voice to the masses and gave one person one vote.
He said many leaders are now coming here for seeking votes from the people and it was made possible due to the rights of vote given by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto to the common man.
He said every one talking about democracy but no one sacrifice as the PPP leadership including Zufliqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto scarified their lives.
"I was given offers and even offered to become Prime Minister when I was in jail and told that neither Benazir Bhutto nor Nawaz Sharif will come back, but I refused those offers," said the Prime Minister.
He said, "There are many allegations on us that we forget the friends in difficult times but I have washed away all these allegations with extending support to the party and remained committed despite difficult times."
The Prime Minister said, "I can not violate the mandate given by the people and continue to fight for the rights of the people while sitting on the seat of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto."
He said the manifesto and programme given by Benazir Bhutto will be completed and the problems and difficulties of the masses will be resolved.
The Prime Minister said the next fifth budget of the democratically elected government, will have incentives for the masses and there will be a programme to resolve energy crisis and creation of 100,000 jobs for the jobless people.
He said the farmers will also get more relief in the next budget for improving agriculture production.
Gilani said his elders got elected from the same area in the past therefore, he could not ignore this area. He assured that Rs.1.38 billion gas project that has been completed and he inaugurated it today will provide benefit to a large number of area in Southern Punjab which was a long standing demand of the people.
Referring to demand regarding declaring Ali Pur Jatoi as tax free zone, he assured to take final decision on this proposal after due discussion with concerned departments.
He also announced Rs.100 million for the construction of roads and assured to construct bridge in the area.
The Prime Minister said roads, hospitals and educational institutions damaged in the last floods will be completed by the federal government and assured that the river bunds would also be strengthened
He also announced financial assistance for each of the Ali Pur Press Club and Jatoi Press Club. He also announced two buses for the local colleges.
He directed the PASSCO to increase the quota of wheat procurement from the area.
The Prime Minister announced to set up Information Technology Campus in Ali Pur.
He appreciated the contribution of Qayyum Jatoi to remained associated with the party and work for the people of the area.
Newly inducted Minister of State Moazzam Jatoi, former federal minister Qayyum Jatoi and member of National Assembly Jamshed Dasti also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, the Prime Minister inaugurated the gas supply which will benefit to the people of areas constituencies of NA-78, Na-79 and NA-80 and other adjoining areas.
