The joint action committee (JAC) of Sindh University teachers, officers and employees on Tuesday announced phase-wise strike against the vice chancellor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat for his alleged corruption, embezzlement in funds, illegal appointments, postings & transfers, punitive actions against officers and pushing the varsity towards financial bankruptcy.

According to the announcement, hundreds of teachers, officers and employees under the aegis of JAC will stage protest demonstration inside the administrative bloc of the University of Sindh popularly known as AC-II and observe pen-down strike on October 11, 2019.

The leaders of JAC Dr Arfana Mallah, Engr Sajjad Shah, Muhammad Ali Narejo and others said this while addressing a press conference at Hyderabad Press club.

They announced that the motorway M9 will be blocked by staging a peaceful sit-in on October 15 and all the employees will observe hunger strike outside admin bloc on October 17 for removal of what they termed "corrupt, criminal and inept vice chancellor".

They said that if their demands were not met, a long march from Sindh University campus Jamshoro to Hyderabad Press Club will be held on October 22, 2019 wherein, a record number of all the stake holders would ensure their participation.

"Our struggle for removal of VC Burfat will continue until this demand is met", said Dr Arfana Mallah.

"We think the university will fall prey to further administrative and financial crises if Burfat continued as VC for more days," she maintained and demanded his quick removal from the post of VC. Engr Sajjad Shah and Muhammad Ali Ghanghro on the occasion also spoke.
