JUI-F leader Durrani appears before NAB on corruption charges

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Akram Khan Durrani Monday appeared before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigators in connection with an inquiry initiated against him and his son on corruption charges and for allegedly accumulating assets beyond their known sources of income.

A NAB official said that senior leader of JUI-F and former federal minister for housing and works Durrani appeared before the NAB's CIT. He recorded his statement in connection with an inquiry against him on corruption charges.

Both the father and his son Zahid, an MNA from Bannu, are facing the same charges of having "assets beyond known sources of income" and allegedly committing corruption in two housing projects announced by the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation. The NAB has also summoned Durrani's son today (Tuesday).

The NAB's executive boarding meeting (EBM) on April 20, 2018 launched an inquiry against Durrani of the JUI-F, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) Foundation Jamil Ahmad Khan, company secretary Zafaryab Khan and others on charges of misuse of authority.

The accused were allegedly involved in illegal allotment of land of PHA foundation at Kuri Road and land allocated for mosques in Sectors I-12 and I-16 to their blue-eyed persons.
