ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif Wednesday said that lawyers' community played a vital role in restoration of democracy and judiciary in the country.
Addressing a reception hosted by Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) in his honour, he said that lawyer's movement not only strived for restoration of judiciary but also against a dictator paving way for general elections in the country.
The current load-shedding and wave of terrorism are also the outcome of dictatorship in the country, Nawaz added.
He said PML-N along with lawyers' community would continue their struggle for upholding rule of law and Constitution in the country.
Nawaz Sharif also appealed to the authorities concerned to take notice of around 50 people who were killed during the lawyers' movement in Karachi on May 12, in 2007.
The PML-N head also demanded of the government to bring the killers of Nawab Akbar Bugti to justice to address grievances of Baloch community and help restore peace in Balochistan.
On the occasion President IHCBA, Chaudhry Ashraf Gujjar appreciated the role of PML-N President in the restoration of judiciary and joined his party along with other lawyers.
Gujjar also handed over certificate of honorary life time membership of Islamabad High Court Bar to Mian Nawaz Sharif.
