ISLAMABAD: Director General of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Arif Mehmood on Wednesday said a rain spell was likely to start on Saturday (April 14) which would make the weather pleasant across the country.
The rain spell, which would last for a few days, would not be intense, he told APP.
During this month, the wheat crop is in its final stage and at many areas its harvesting is about to start. The dry and hot weather, mostly expected to prevail during the month is beneficial for the wheat crop and farmers will get sufficient time to harvest the crop, Arif Mehmood said.
According to the weather report, rain and dust thunderstorm is expected at isolated places of Northeast Punjab, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pukhtunkhwa during the next 24 hours. Duststorm may also occur in southern parts of the Punjab.
According to the Synoptic Situation Outlook, western disturbance is affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist for next 24 hours.
In Sindh and Balochistan, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts during the next 24 hours, however, dust-raising winds are likely to blow at Sukkur and Larkana, Quetta, Zhob and Kalat divisions during evening and night.
Rain and thunderstorm is expected at scattered places of Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan during the next 24 hours.
The highest maximum temperature recorded at Nawabshah was 43 C.The maximum temperatures during the last 24 hours were Islamabad 30 C, Lahore 33 C, Quetta 26 C, Karachi 37 C, Peshawar 30 C, Muzaffarabad 23 C, Gilgit 21 C, Murree 18 C, Multan 37 C, Faisalabad 35 C. Yesterday's Pollen count of Islamabad is 1,323 per cubic meter.
The chief amount of rainfall during last 24 hours was Sialkot (civil) 53 mm, Kakul 42 mm, Garidupatta 36 mm, Gujranwala 22 mm, Sialkot (A.P) 16 mm, Murree 16 and Pattan 16 mm, Muzaffarabad 14 and Lahore (civil) 14 mm, Chakwal 14,Toba Tek Singh 11 mm and Noorpurthal 11 mm and Bunji 9mm.
