China express sympathies with avalanche victims

BEIJING: China on Monday expressed sympathies and condolences with the victims of the avalanche that hit the Gayari region in Pakistan on Saturday and their bereaved families.

"We express our condolences to the Pakistani victims in avalanche and express sympathies with the bereaved families", said foreign ministry spokesman Liu Weimin, at a regular press conference.

As many as 135 persons, including 124 soldiers and 11 civilians, came under a huge snow slide in the Gayari Sector near Skardu, according to media reports.
