GARHI KHUDA BUKSH: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Tuesday said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto sacrificed his life for the country and to ensure the basic rights of the people.
Talking to newsmen here after visiting the grave of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on his 33rd death anniversary, the Prime Minister said, "as workers of Pakistan Peoples Party, it is our duty to promote the mission and vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto."
The Prime Minister said the PPP leadership especially Benazir Bhutto, her mother Nusrat Bhutto and her brothers embraced martyrdom in the struggle for the rights of the people of Pakistan and to promote democracy in the country.
Gilani said it is great credit of the present government that it restored the 1973 constitution to its original form and the soul of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto will be satisfied today with the revival of the original constitution.
He said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had great contributions for the country as he gave the nuclear programme to strengthen its defence.
Gilani while referring to the 2010 and 2012 Nuclear Security Summits held in Washington and South Korea, attended by him, said its credit of the PPP government that its Prime Minister was invited to these two summits that recognized Pakistan's nuclear capability and legitimized its nuclear power which was given by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
About the decision of the Supreme Court to give death sentence to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the Prime Minister said it was a judicial murder.
He said some of the judges, who were members of the bench, said that they decided under pressure.
He hoped that the Supreme Court will give its verdict in Zulfikar Ali Bhutto reference at the earliest.
Bhutto was a great world leader so history should be corrected, he added.
Replying to a question about law and order situation in Karachi, he said it is a provincial subject and the federal government will ensure full support to the provincial government in maintaining law and order and intelligence sharing.
He said Karachi is mini Pakistan and its strong economy means that Pakistan's economy is strong so there is need to improve the situation in Karachi.
"We will use all sources to ensure peace in Karachi," he added.
Regarding situation in Balochistan, the Prime Minister said Balochs are loyal to Pakistan, they sacrificed for Pakistan and supported Quaid-e-Azam.
Only few people are talking about separation but majority is in favour of federation, he said adding rights of people of Balochistan would be ensured and their sense of injustice would be removed.
He said, "We will ensure the rights of people of Balochistan and will remove their sense deprivation."
The Prime Minister said governments never go for strike, adding that opposition is getting publicity through these protests and rallies.
He said all political parties are in the government either at the federal level or in the provinces, but criticism is only directed towards the federal government.
The Prime Minister said the opposition has no agenda and everybody is in the government and there is no real opposition.
