MOSCOW: Russia's sugar beet test, the first since the start of the year, showed an average root weight at 117 grammes compared with 81 grammes in July last year, the Russian Sugar Producers' Union industry lobby said on Thursday.
The number of beets per hectare was at 101,000, compared with 96,000 a year ago, it added.
The sugar content has not been tested so far.
