Policy of reconciliation strengthened political forces in the country: Chairman Senate

SUKKUR: Chairman Senate Nayyer Hussain Bukhari has said that the government has successfully met enormous challenges, established rule of law and assured supremacy of the Parliament.

Talking to media men here on Sunday, he said he thanked President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and allied parties for reposing confidence in him for the Senate Chairman. He also thanked the members of the Senate for electing the Chairman unopposed.

The Chairman Senate said the policy of reconciliation helped overcome the national challenges with the joint efforts of the coalition government and the opposition.

He further said the PPP government has decided to give relief to the masses in the upcoming budget and a team comprising the financial wizards will be set up to work out modalities in this regard.

Reply to a question, he said the speech of the President's fifth address to the joint session of parliament is a great achievement of the government and democracy in Pakistan. He said 2012 would be the year of relief for the people. In the next budget various relief measures would be announced for the people.

To another qustion, Chairman Senate said that policy of reconciliation has yielded political dividends and strengthened political forces in the country.
