KHANEWAL: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Friday the government was committed to uplift backward areas across the country including Southern Punjab.
He expressed these views in a meeting with PM's advisor and chairman Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (EERA), Sardar Hamid Yar Haraj and former district nazim Sardar Ahmad Yar Haraj here at Haraj's residence.
PM Gilani said that Faisalabad-Multan M4 Motorway project would prove to be a milestone for the uplift of Southern Punjab.
He said that PPP had included demand for Seraiki province in its manifesto to end the sense of deprivation among the people of this area.
Sardar Hamid Yar Haraj and Sardar Ahmad Yar Haraj congratulated the PM on victory of his son Ali Musa Gilani in the by-elections.
The Prime Minister promised to build a ladies park on Railways land in Khanewal.
On this occasion, a delegation of Khanewal press club led by its president Tahir Naseem met the Prime Minister. Gilani announced Rs 1 million per annum financial assistance for the press club.
Other journalists including Latif Anwar and Imtiaz Asad Fakhri were also present on the occasion.
