ISLAMABAD: President Supreme Court Bar Association Yasin Azad said that President enjoys immunity under Article 248 of the Constitution.
Talking to PTV, he said the Supreme Court judgement was implemented for NRO, except for one clause which was the main dispute in writing a letter to the Swiss Government.
He said the Prime Minister faced contempt of court after he denied to write a letter to the Swiss Government. He said the prime minister followed the advice given to him by the Law Department.
Answering a question he said it is critical situation if the SC thought that the letter should be written, then it should give judgement on Article 248 that president does not enjoy immunity.
He said on the other side the Prime Minister's stand is clear that under Article 248, that the president enjoys immunity.
Yasin denied this verdict that Article 6 can be implemented on Prime Minister rather this article should be implemented on those who had distorted the Constitution in 2007.
He said both the parliament and judiciary are respectable and confrontation between the institutions is not in national interest.
He said according to the Vienna Convention and international law the President enjoys immunity and if Pakistani state writes to another state then the situation would be changed.
