BUCHAREST: Romanian deputy central bank governor Liviu Voinea will quit his post to become the European Union state's new representative to the International Monetary Fund on August 26, the bank said in a statement on Thursday.
The mandate of the nine-member central bank board, including that of Governor Mugur Isarescu, expires in October.
It is unclear whether Voinea's position will be filled before then, but the board has previously functioned with only eight members.
