BERLIN: German Chancellor Angela Merkel will hold talks in Rome on Tuesday with Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti to discuss the latest eurozone developments, her spokesman said on Friday.
The meeting will be followed by a press conference and dinner with President Giorgio Napolitano, Steffen Seibert told a regular news conference.
Talks will focus on "developments in the euro zone, financial and economic trends in the European Union overall, and European initiatives to boost growth," he said.
German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble, who held talks with Monti on Wednesday, praised the reforms launched since the Italian prime minister came to power in November.
Merkel was initially to have travelled to Rome on February 17, but her trip was delayed because of German President Christian Wulff's resignation.
