Fehmida congratulates women on NCSW Bill 2012

fehmida-mirzaISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza has congratulated all the women on signing of National Commission on Status of Women (NCSW) Bill 2012 by the President Asif Ali Zardari on the International Women Day.

Talking PTV, she said that the purpose of celebrating this special day was to focus the problems facing by women across the world and to appreciate the working women.

She said in the history of Pakistan, women played an important role in development of country. "Mohtarma Fatima Jinah worked side by side of Qaid-i-Azam and today women were playing their role for the progress of the country in every progressive political party.

Fehmida said the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) had taken steps to empower the women and established a women organization.

"Today, we can compare the Pakistani women with women from anywhere in the world," she said.

Appreciating the steps taken by the present for empowerment of the women, Speaker National Assembly said the leadership of PPP had given many important designation to the women which gives a positive message to the rest of world.

She said "Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was the first woman ever elected to head an Islamic nation and I am the first woman speaker of National Assembly of any country in all over the Muslim world. Which is an honour for me," Fahmida added.

She said policies were made on high level but they trickle down to benefit common people.

She said that the rural women were hopeful because they know that in their policy matters the women were also included.

Fehmida Mirza said the life of women are changing in the country which is a good sign for the development of the country.
