Non-filers, tax evaders not to be spared

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Revenue, Hamad Azhar on Wednesday said the government was working on different lines to bring non-filers and tax evaders into tax net.

The purpose of launching tax amnesty scheme was to facilitate those people who had assets abroad or here but they were not paying taxes, he stated while talking to a private news channel.

"Broadening the tax network would help strengthen economy, " he added.

"We are seriously working on non-tax filers and tax evaders to convince them to enjoy the amnesty scheme being launched soon," he said.

To a question, he said the government had made efforts to rescue the economic sector, adding credit must be given to the leadership of the present government who had taken concrete measures for reviving sick entities and bringing reforms in different institutions.

The PTI government was providing a chance to tax evaders and non-filers to come into the tax net, otherwise, they would have to face ‘a punitive action’ being launched by the departments concerned in the next month, the minister added.
