CTP issues 88473 challans,imposed fine Rs30mn

MULTAN: City Traffic Police (CTP) issued 88473 challans during the last two months of January, February and imposed fine of over Rs 30 millions on traffic rules violators.
Talking to APP here on Monday,a spokesman of the City Traffic Police Muhammad Adnan said that as per directions of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Waseem Ahmed Khan, the CTP taking strict action against traffic rules violators. He said that 44,464 challans were issued in the month of January and 44,009 challans in February
He said that the CTP impounded 2542 vehicles, suspended driving license of 92 drivers, suspended route permits of 15 vehicles, took action against 43 violators under PPC laws, 3188 under tinted glasses, one over blue lights, 922 under age drivers, 1134 for over-speeding and 2183 other vehicles over violations of one way.
The City Traffic Police got registered FIRs against 43 violators including 33 for doing wheelie and 10 under PPC law, he added.
On the other hand, action was being taken against encroachers under the supervision of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Huma Naseeb as FIRs were registered against 130 encroachers so far with the police stations concerned.
