KARACHI: Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi, Dr. Ameer Sheikh on Friday clarified that only one incident of firing has taken place not two, which aimed to disturb the peace of the city and has nothing to do with sectarian violence.
Talking to media persons at a private hospital, the city police chief said that two ehicles of religious scholars Maulana Taqi Usmani and Maulana Shahab were targeted at the same time by 4 unidentified armed gunmen near NIPA Bridge and as a result two including a policeman were martyred while two others sustained injuries.
He said that Maulana Taqi Usmani and Maulana Shahab remained safe while police constable Farooq son of Rana Hanif and a private security guard Sanobar son of Shoukat Khan lost their lives. The injured include Amir and Habib.
