KARACHI: Governor Sindh, Imran Ismail has registered his deep sorrow over killing of a cop escorting senior scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani during firing on the moving vehicle of the former in Gulshan e Iqbal area Friday afternoon.
Paying tribute to the policeman, Mohammad Farooq, laying life in line of his duty, the Governor also offered his condolence to the family of Sanober Khan, employed by Dar ul Uloom Korangi (Karachi) as a private guard and travelling in another car a little ahead of the vehicle carrying Mufti Usmani.
The two vehicles were fired upon by unidentified pillion riders at quite a close distance, on NIPA fly- over, leaving the two guards dead and rendering driver of one of the cars severely injured.
The Governor while expressing gratitude that Mufti Usmani and his family remained unhurt said there had been reports of threats being received by the scholar for past few weeks.
