Caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Syed Ali Zafar Thursday said that caretaker government will ensure holdingg of general election on time Talking to media persons here, the minister said that it is constitutional obligation and duty of the caretaker government to hold free, fair and transparent election.
Replying to a question regarding possible inclusion of names of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz in Exit Control List (ECL), he said that the government will decide in this regard once they return the country. Zafar said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has requested the federal government to place the names of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz on no-fly list owing to corruption cases underway against them in the court.
He said that a committee, including interior, finance and information ministers, has already been working to consider the issue. He said that Nawaz Sharif is abroad to attend his ailing wife and it is not appropriate to consider the issue of ECL right now. However, when he will return the issue may be taken up.
Nawaz and Maryam, both accused in three NAB references, left for London on June 14 to attend to Kulsoom Nawaz.
Replying to another question, he said the allegations by any political party on a public official for biasness needs to be given due consideration. Replying to a question, the minister said that security forces will be deployed at sensitive polling stations in order to conduct election peacefully.
