Recently restored Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) leaders on Wednesday announced to hold the biggest ever public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan Lahore on May 13, 2018. Addressing the National Workers Convention of MMA here, the President of newly restored MMA Maulana Fazalur Rehman said that Pakistani economy as well as Parliament is under pressure, adding that the country should be freed from the clutches of international lenders and other pressure groups. He said that MMA politics are based on spreading love and not hatred.
He paid great homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his colleagues for making a separate homeland for the Muslims of sub-continent. Maulana Fazlur Rehman said MMA's new leadership, an alliance of 6 religious-political parties, would unite the entire nation against hidden and open enemies of Islam and Pakistan.
The JUI-F emir said that religious parties are united, adding MMA has the right to rule. "We want to teach lesson of love and eradicate hatred," he said. The MMA chief said that the planned public gathering in Lahore will be free of dances and songs. He added that since the creation of Pakistan "we failed to achieve the objectives of the Freedom Movement, we will not allow anybody to derail the direction of the country and will make all-out efforts in attaining the objectives for which Pakistan was created."
He said that in 2002 former dictator Pervez Musharraf asked him not to contest the elections as the US government was opposing the MMA's bid to jointly contest the elections and JUI-F chief's move to become a contender for the premiership.
Rehman said the people are not given their due rights. He said rulers gave nothing except crises to the country during the last 70 years. "We are starting journey with new zeal and fervor," the JUI-F chief said.
In his address at the Convention, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sirajul Haq said a political leader doesn't teach corruption to the people. He said a political leader doesn't disperse the nation. "We are not doing politics of hatred. Our fight is against moral and economic corruption," Sirajul Haq said.
He said that the exploitative system prevailing in the country for the last seventy years has ruined every sphere of life, especially education, agriculture, health sectors and industry. Corrupt mafia has been ruling the country so far, he alleged.
He said the MMA would wipe out the exploitative system with the support of the general public. He said that the National Workers Convention has marked the beginning of the MMA's countrywide mass contact drive.
He lamented that since the creation of Pakistan, political leadership has not been allowed to strengthen the democratic culture in Pakistan. He said that only 2 percent of the population owns 98 percent of the national resources while rest of 98 percent of the population is living miserable lives. "We have to take concrete steps in distribution of wealth among all the segments of the society for which only the alliance of Islamic parties can take solid steps as others including military dictatorships in past 70 years have deprived the masses of their basic rights", he added
The JI chief said they want to eradicate unemployment from the country. He said they want the Islamic system in the country. Siraj said that the Supreme Court must start hearing JI's petition against 450 people named in Panama Papers case. He said that the MMA alliance will defeat all the political forces backed by establishment in forthcoming general elections.
Speaking on the occasion JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch, who is also secretary general of Muthida Majlis-e-Amal, said that the politicians who have been tested and tried many a time are an undue burden on the national politics.
Baloch said the religious leadership in the MMA would steer the country out of the numerous crises it was facing.
Baloch said that the people of the Punjab have deep love for the Islamic way of life and the Holy Prophet (PBUH), therefore if the religious forces are united, the feudal lords, and capitalists ruling the country could be easily ousted.
He said if the nation expresses its confidence in the MMA, it would abolish the interest-based economic system and put the country on the path of progress and prosperity.
Other senior leaders of the MMA including Professor Sajid Mir and Alama Sajid Naqvi said that MMA will protect the national image of the country and will make no compromise on national unity.
