The Karachi Port handled 338,352 tonnes of cargo comprising 243,442 tonnes of import cargo and 94,910 tonnes of export cargo including 7,106 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 243,442 tonnes comprised of 95,683 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,419 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,496 tonnes of coal and 130,844 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 94,910 tonnes comprised of 47,584 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,118 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,377 tonnes of cement; 39,892 tonnes of wheat and 4,939 tonnes of wheat (Gandum). As many as 7,106 containers comprising of 4,352 containers import and 2,756 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,502 of 20's and 1,300 of 40's loaded while 132 of 20's and 58 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 566 of 20's and 235 of 40's loaded containers while 500 of 20's and 610 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were twelve ships namely MOL Emerald, Talassa, Wieland, YM Cypress, ETE-N, MT Shalamar, Bold World, Cora, Liberty Peace, Pretty Team, Pistis and Marianne Danica carrying containers, oil tankers, wheat, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were thirteen vessels viz. Cosco Surabaya, Hyundai Brave, Kota Lagu, Libra, Chemroad Polaris, Cora, MTM Gibraltar, MT Karachi, Royal Hope, Nord Kitan, Liberty Peace, Valovine and Marianne Danica carrying containers, oil tankers, soyabean, coal, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 114,435 tonnes comprising 80,824 tonnes of import cargo and 33,611 tonnes of export cargo including 2,163 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 80,824 tonnes includes 12,289 tonnes of diesel oil; 20,452 tonnes of coal; 13,200 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 27,400 tonnes of LNG and 7,486 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,611 tonnes includes 33,611 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,163 containers comprising of 394 containers import and 1,769 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There was one ship namely CV Cape Mayor carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely CV APL Hawa-II and MT Maran Gas Coronis carrying containers and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels viz. CV APL Hawa-II, CV Cape Mayor, CV Libra, MV African Puffin, MV Islander, MV Caravos Liberty, MV Crimson Empress, MT Maran Gas Coronis and MT Desetr Rose were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, soyabean seeds, coal, LNG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV MS Tiger, CV Seamax Greenwich, MV White Hawk, MV Zhen Bang, MV Santa Rita, MV Trans Ocean, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Jo Pinari and MT Constantinos carrying containers, soyabean, canola seeds, coal, cement, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Semax Greenwich, CV MS Tiger, CV Amalthea and CV SM Charleston carrying containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Monday. There were three ships namely CV SM Charleston, CV Semax Greenwich and CV MSC Samantha carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Monday. There are two ships namely CV CSAV Tandall and CV Maersk Atlanta carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
