The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will produce a new witness before the anti-graft court against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members in connection with two references filed against them. NAB Director General (Operations), Zahir Shah will be the new witness and he would bring on court's record the new documents which he has acquired from the British government.
The NAB DG (Operations) and investigator officer would be the last two witnesses to record their statements in the Avenfield reference. The court has recorded the statements of all witnesses, including Wajid Zia, in the Avenfield reference.
Sources said that as per received verified documents from the British Land Registry, the ownership of Sharif family's apartments had been transferred to the offshore companies, including Neilson and Nescoll, during 1993 to 1995. The London flats were transferred when Nawaz Sharif's children were young and did not have any source of income.
NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi filed an application in the court during the previous hearing requesting that the Bureau's investigation team has received replies to the requests for mutual legal assistance (MLA) from foreign jurisdiction in the Avenfield and Flagship references and it wants to place the documents before the court.
Accountability Court Judge Mohammad Bashir directed the prosecution and defence lawyers to present their arguments on the application on April 20 (today). Meanwhile, the Accountability Court adjourned hearing of reference filed against Ishaq Dar till April 25 due to ailment of defence counsel.
