Chairman Hyderabad SITE Association Saman Mal has demanded the Sindh Government to improve the infrastructure in Hyderabad SITE so that the target of maximum industrial growth could be achieved for the betterment of Pakistan in general and Sindh in particular. Talking to this scribe, he said that no step has been taken for the betterment of the infrastructure for the last 30 years, resulting all roads of SITE have gone into shabby condition while the drainage and sewerage system has almost collapsed.
He said that 150 out of 375 big and small industries in Hyderabad SITE have been shut down due to non-availability of required facilities. He appreciated the performance of the former Sindh Minister for Industries, Muhammad Ali Malkani, adding that due to his personal interest some development works were initiated but at present, the situation is very alarming.
The Hyderabad SITE Association had raised voice at all forums with plea that a better infrastructure would help ensure rapid industrial growth, he said and added that no plot has so far been allotted in SITE extension where the industrialists had already paid the required amount. There is the dire need of upgrading the Hyderabad SITE, he said and added that the investors are ready to establish industrial units in Hyderabad SITE but non-availability of plots is big hindrance in this regard.
He said that gas loadshedding in SITE area is also causing great financial losses to big industries. Textile and other industrial units are badly suffering due to closure of their boilers a day in a week causing halting production two days in a week. He appealed to the government to consider on the decision of loadshedding so that all industrial units could continue their production according to target.
To a question, he said that environment protection is a better step of the government but there is the need that the government should also extend its cooperation in this connection. Only big industrial units of the area are able to establish water treatment plants but it beyond the reach to the owners of small industrial units. The government should establish water treatment plants from its own resources, he demanded.
