India kicks out Pakistan of Emerging Team Asia Cup

Pakistan run at the Asian Cricket Council Emerging Teams Cup ended after they were thrashed by arch rivals India by 7 wickets in the semi-final on Thursday.

Earlier, Pakistan set India a target of 173 in the first semi-final of the tournament, which India managed to chase easily with 22 overs remaining.

For India, Nitish Rana and Himmat Singh top scored with an inning of 60 and 59 runs, respectively.

Pakistan were bowled out for 172 in 44.4 overs, after India won the toss and elected to field.

Captain and wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan top scored with 67, while Saud Shakeel contributed 62 runs. Opener Zeeshan Malik managed 17 runs. None of the others in the lineup could reach double digits.

Pakistan run at the event come to a dismal end despite starting off on a high, the team green thrashed Hong Kong by 225-runs in their opening match of the tournament, they then went on to defeat the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by nine wickets.

However, their winning streak was broken at the hands of Bangladesh, which defeated Pakistan on Sunday by 84 runs in their Pool B match to set-up a semi-final clash with subcontinent rivals in Sri Lanka.

The tournament final is scheduled to play in Colombo, Sri Lanka on December 15.
