The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has proposed a refund of Rs 2.20 per unit to the consumers of power Distribution Companies (Discos) for February 2018. The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) will hear the petition of CPPA at a public hearing on March 27.
According to the petition, total generation was 6,979.16 Gwh in February. The total generation cost of this electricity was Rs 34.252 billion at the rate of Rs 4.9078 per unit. However, after sale of 13.55 Gwh to IPPs and transmission losses of 157.11 Gwh, the CPPA delivered 6,808.5 Gwh to Discos at a cost of Rs 34.502 billion (Rs 5.0675 per unit). On the basis of data, the CPPA has recommended a refund of Rs 2.1928 per unit over the reference fuel charges ie Rs 7.2603 per unit as fuel charges in February calculated at Rs 5.0675 per unit.
The cost of coal has been calculated at Rs 5.8132 per unit, HSD Rs 14.1817 per unit, RFO, Rs 10.1688 per unit, gas, Rs 4.7122 per unit, RLNG, 9.0209 per unit, nuclear Rs 1.0749 per unit, import from Iran, Rs 11.0557 per unit, mixed, Rs 6.7743 per unit and baggasse, Rs 6.1818 per unit.
The CPPA has also sought adjustment of previous/supplemental charges of Rs 486 million. The Authority would decide if these charges are justifiable or not.
