Television programme host Dr Amir Liaquat has joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in a development that was confirmed by party leader Imran Ismail on Saturday. The development was confirmed by Imran Ismail while talking to a private television channel. Ismail said that he had sought Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan's permission to offer Dr Liaquat again to join PTI, the last time he visited Karachi and was granted.
He said that the television personality is known across Pakistan and has a fan following, particularly in Karachi and is going to be a good addition for the political organisation. PTI leader said that Imran Khan is to pay a two-day visit to Karachi starting from Sunday which is when Dr Liaquat's joining would formally be announced.
Dr Amir Liaquat was earlier associated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQMP) and had quit the party as well as politics in the aftermath of an anti-Pakistan tirade tirade delivered by founder of the organisation. He was detained by Pakistan Rangers in Karachi in the following months of anti-Pakistan speech within hours of which he quit MQMP. It should also be mentioned here that Dr Liaquat widely criticised PTI in the recent past both in his media talks as well as television programmes.
This is not the first time that PTI has announced to formally launch Dr Liaquat as its member. Faisal Javed Khan, Member of National Assembly (MNA) belonging to PTI had announced on Twitter Dr Liaquat's joining in late 2017. He claimed on social media that Dr Liaquat would be joining the political front on October 25, 2017 however that never happened. A press conference that was addressed by PTI leaders on October 25 was skipped by Dr Liaquat.
