An old age home has been established here at Narwala road near Marzipura on the area of more than three acres with the cost of Rs 143.30 million for the welfare and rehabilitation of deserving and neglected senior citizens by the Social Welfare Department Punjab. This old age home has the capacity of boarding more than 50 male and female old persons.
State Minister for Textile Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari inaugurated the newly established old age home. Director General Social Welfare Waheed Akhtar Ansair, Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani, parliamentarians Begum Khalida Mnasoor, Muhammad Nawaz Malik, Haji Ilyas Ansari, Mayor Municipal Corporation Muhammad Razzaq Malik, other notables, local bodies' representatives and a large number of common citizens were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, State Minister for Textile Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari said the incumbent govt was following a number of welfare policies for the betterment of all segments of life including deserving and heirless elderly persons. He said the Punjab govt has established this old age home for those old persons who are neglected or heirless due to any cause and issues.
Social Welfare DG Waheed Akhtar Ansari said a number of projects had been completed across the Punjab under Social Welfare department for the social development in different sectors. He said the establishment of old age home was also significant step of the welfare policies.
Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani said this project had been completed after regular monitoring of the construction work. He said bed rooms, common rooms, kitchen, offices, staff accommodation and other rooms have been constructed for providing maximum facilities to the deserving old age persons separately male and female. He informed that an advisory committee would also be constituted for supervising the affairs of the old age home. Parliamentarians Begum Khalida Mansoor, Muhammad Nawaz Malik, Haji Ilyas Ansari and Mayor MCF Muhammad Razzaq Malik also spoke on the occasion.
