Will former President and army chief General Pervez Musharraf come back to the country? Isn't it a million dollar question? The former army chief is being tried under Article 6 of Constitution 1973 for abrogating and suspending the Constitution by promulgating emergency on 3rd November, 2007. Special Court set up for the trial of Musharraf under Article 6 of the Constitution has directed Ministry of Interior to approach Interpol for issuance of former president's arrest warrants and production before this court.
The government has taken the plea that Musharraf in a letter to it has pledged to come back within a week. That is why his CNIC and passport have not been cancelled. The government has every right to hope that things will happen in the way that it wants them to.
