Prices of essential kitchen items witnessed reduction during this week past against the preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that the price of live chicken went down from Rs 5,600 per 40kg to Rs 5,400 per 40kg in wholesale market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 165 per kg against Rs 170 per kg, while chicken meat price reduced from Rs 300 per kg to Rs 285 per kg. The eggs prices in wholesale market witnessed no change which were available at Rs 90 per dozen and were being sold in retail market at Rs 105 per dozen.
Tomato price went down from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 130 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 45 per kg, onions price further went down from Rs 170 per 5kg to Rs 160 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg. Garlic price went up from Rs 430 per 5kg to Rs 550 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 150 per kg against Rs 100 per kg. Ginger price went down from Rs 600 per 5kg to Rs 575 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 150 per kg. Local lemon price remained unchanged at Rs 800 per 5kg while Chinese lemon went down from Rs 400 per 5kg to Rs 350 per 5kg while in retail market lemons were being sold at Rs 100-180 per kg.
The survey observed that the prices of meat, fish, milk and non-perishable food items remained stable. Best quality rice was available at Rs 130 per kg, wheat at Rs 750 per 20kg bag and sugar was being sold at Rs 60 per kg. Prices of all the major pulses witnessed no change as white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 180 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 200 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 120-140 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg and red lentils (Masoor) was being sold at Rs 110 per kg. Spinach price remained unchanged at Rs 100 per 5kg in wholesales market while in retail market was being sold at Rs 25 per 1kg bundle, while price of mint remained unchanged at Rs 250 per bundle in wholesales market while in retail market a small bundle of 1/4 kg mint was being sold at Rs 25. Capsicum price went down from Rs 380 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 95 per kg, peas price further went up from Rs 180 per 5kg to Rs 300 per 5kg in wholesale market, which in retail market were being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 45 per kg, taro's (arvi) price remained unchanged at Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg, carrot price also remained stable at Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 30 per kg and price of a pack of 8kg radish remained stable at Rs 120 per pack which in retail market was being sold at Rs 25 per kg.
Bean price went down from Rs 450 per 5kg to Rs 380 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 100 per kg, Okra price went down from Rs 700 per 5kg to Rs 320 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 160 per kg, and price of ridge gourd (tori) further went down from Rs 420 per 5kg to Rs 325 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 95 per kg. Cauliflower price further went up from Rs 140 per 5kg to Rs 160 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg while cabbage price remained unchanged at Rs 120 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35 per kg. Brinjal price further went down from Rs 330 per 5kg to Rs 280 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 80 per kg, and cucumber price further went up from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 50 per kg.
Price of apple gourd (tinda) went down from Rs 350 per 5kg to Rs 320 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 85 per kg, bitter gourd (karela) price went down from Rs 800 per 5kg to Rs 750 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 180-190 per kg against Rs 200 per kg, while green chilies price went down from Rs 500 per 5kg to Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 125 per kg. Fruits prices during this week witnessed mixed trend as good quality local banana was available at Rs 120 per dozen, normal quality was available in the range of Rs 60-80 per dozen and Indian banana with a reduction of Rs 15 per dozen was being sold at Rs 160 per dozen against Rs 175 per dozen. Good quality guava price further went down from Rs 90 per kg to Rs 80 per kg and normal from Rs 70 per kg to Rs 50-60 per kg, local pomegranate was available at Rs 150 per kg while Kandhari pomegranate was being sold at Rs 225 per kg against Rs 180 per kg. Prices of various qualities of oranges also went up which were available in the range of Rs 70-180 per dozen.
While new arrival good quality strawberry was being sold at Rs 300 per kg and normal at Rs 250 per kg and Chinese pear was available at Rs 200 per kg. Normal quality white apple was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 80 per kg, Pakistani Kala Kalu apple was available at Rs 150 per kg, Iranian apple at Rs 160 per kg, golden apple was being sold at Rs 110 per kg against Rs 130 per kg, ambari apple at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 70 per kg, while Chinese and other imported apples were being sold in the range of Rs 200-250 per kg.
