Prices of essential kitchen items witnessed an increase during this week past against the preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that the price of live chicken went up from Rs 5,000 per 40kg to Rs 5,600 per 40kg in wholesale market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 170 per kg against Rs 155 per kg, while chicken meat price reached Rs 300 per kg against Rs 250 per kg.
The eggs prices in wholesale market witnessed a slight reduction from Rs 92 per dozen to Rs 90 per dozen which in retail market were being sold at Rs 105 per dozen against Rs 110 per dozen. Tomato price remained stable at Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 40-45 per kg, onions price further went down from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 170 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 50 per kg.
Local garlic price went down from Rs 500 per 5kg to Rs 430 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 130 per kg while China garlic price went up from 600 per 5kg to Rs 650, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 160 per kg against Rs 150 per kg. Ginger price went up from Rs 580 per 5kg to Rs 600 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 150 per kg. Local lemon price remained unchanged at Rs 800 per 5kg while Chinese lemon price further went up from Rs 350 per 5kg to Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail were being sold at Rs 90-100 per kg.
The survey observed that the prices of meat, fish, milk and nonperishable food items remained stable. Best quality rice was available at Rs 130 per kg, wheat at Rs 750 per 20kg bag and sugar was being sold at Rs 60 per kg. Prices of all the major pulses witnessed no change as white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 180 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 200 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 120-140 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg and red lentil (Masoor) was available at Rs 110 per kg.
Spinach price remained unchanged at Rs 100 per 5kg in wholesales market while in retail market was being sold Rs 25 per one-kg bundle and mint price went up from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 250 per bundle while in retail market a small bundle of 1/4 kg mint was being sold at Rs 25 against Rs 20. Capsicum price went up from Rs 350 per 5kg to Rs 380 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 95 per kg against Rs 90; peas price further went up from Rs 160 per 5kg to Rs 180 per 5kg in wholesale market, which in retail market were being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 40 per kg; taro's (arvi) price went down from Rs 220 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg; carrot price further went down from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 40 per kg; and price of a pack of 8kg radish further went down from Rs 150 to Rs 120 per pack which in retail market was being sold at Rs 25 per kg against Rs 30 per kg.
Bean price went up from Rs 400 per 5kg to Rs 450 per 5kg which in retail were being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 90 per kg, Okra price went down from Rs 750 per 5kg to Rs 700 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 160 per kg against Rs 170 per kg, price of ridge gourd (tori) further went up from Rs 400 per 5kg to Rs 420 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 95 per kg against Rs 90 per kg.
Cauliflower price further went up from Rs 120 per 5kg to Rs 140 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg while cabbage price also further went down from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 120 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35 per kg against Rs 40 per kg.
Bringal price further went up from Rs 300 per 5kg to Rs 330 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 75 per kg, cucumber price further went down from Rs 220 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 55 per kg.
Price of apple gourd (tinda) witnessed no change which is available at Rs 350 per 5kg, while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 85 per kg; bitter gourd (karela) price went down from Rs 900 per 5kg to Rs 800 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 200 per kg against Rs 220 per kg.
Fruits prices during this week witnessed an increased as good quality local price banana was available at Rs 120 per dozen against Rs 80 per dozen, normal quality in the range of Rs 60-80 per dozen against Rs 40-60 per dozen and Indian banana was being sold at Rs 175 per dozen. Good quality guava price further went up from Rs 80 per kg to Rs 90 per kg and normal from Rs 60 per kg to Rs 70 per kg, local pomegranate was available at Rs 150 per kg while Kandhari pomegranate was being sold at Rs 177 per kg. Prices of various qualities of oranges also went up which were available in the range of Rs 70-180 per dozen against Rs 50-140 per dozen.
Normal quality white apple was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 80 per kg, Pakistani Kala Kalu apple was available at Rs 150 per kg, while Iranian apple was being sold at Rs 160 per kg, golden apple was being sold at Rs 110 per kg against Rs 130 per kg, Ambari apple at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 70 per kg, while Chinese and other imported apples were being sold in the range of Rs 200-250 per kg.
