Spot basis bids for hard red winter (HRW) wheat were mostly steady around the US Plains amid slow farmer sales and light demand, grain merchants said. Many farmers are delaying wheat sales to elevators and mills until after Friday's US Department of Agriculture supply and demand and wheat planting reports. Total US winter wheat acreage is expected to be the lowest in more than a century.
Spot basis bids at US Gulf export terminals slipped by 5 cents a bushel after climbing late last week.
