The number of 3G and 4G users in Pakistan reached 47.204 million by end-November 2017, said Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Likewise, the number of mobile phone users in Pakistan reached 143.34 million by end-November 2017 compared to 142.404 million by October 2017, which registered an increase of 0.936 million during the period under review.
Jazz''s total count for 3G users stood at 14.096 million by end-November compared to 13.93 million by end-October 2017, registering an increase of 0.166 million. Jazz 4G user numbers jumped from 1,558,180 by October to 1,750,866 by end-November Zong 3G subscribers increased to 9.0297 million by end-November 2017 compared to 8.976 million by end-October, while the number of 4G users jumped from 4,776,777 by end-October to 4,845504 by end-November.
The number of 3G users of Telenor network decreased from 10.635 million by end-October 2017 to10.591 million. Like others the number of 4G users jumped from 1,162,870 by end-October 2017 to 1,361,514 by end-November 2017. Ufone added 67,517 3G users on its network during the month of November as the total number reached 5.5564 million by end-November against 5.4889 million by end-October 2017.
Teledensity for cellular mobile reached 70.83 percent and broadband number of subscribers reached 47,204,796 by end-November as compared to 46,538,184 by end-October 2017. The PTA received 3,026 complaints from telecom consumers against different telecom operators including (cellular operators, PTCL, LDIs, WLL operators and ISPs) as of November 2017.
According to PTA data, PTCL leads the chart with 966 and Jazz (Mobilink + Warid) stands at second position as the most complained telecom operator with 713 complaints. The PTA said that it was able to get 3,026 complaints resolved ie 96.16 percent of the total complaints.
Cellular mobile subscribers constitute major part of overall telecom subscriber base, therefore, maximum number of complaints belong to this segment. Total number of complaints against CMOs by November 2017 stood at 1,974. In terms of the segregation of complaints on operator basis, a total of 713 complaints were received against Jazz which is 36.11% of the total CMO related complaints.
Telenor, which has the second largest number of consumers, was second with 554 ie 28.06 percent complaints were received against it. Zong stood third with 401 complaints ie 20.31 percent of total complaints. Ufone had 350 complaints against its various services which make up 15.50 percent of the total CMO related complaints.
