Managing Director of Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWM), AD Sanjrani has said that consultant has been hired to draw a detail and comprehensive strategy for recycling of all type of solid waste in the city. Addressing Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) members, he said that SSWM board has collected data of garbage quantity and information of different nature of the garbage produced by industries.
He assured to restrict garbage and debris dumping at surrounding of EMB causeway and Malir River. He briefed members of the association about future plans of SSWM related to industrial solid waste management. President KATI, Tariq Malik said that cleanliness of the city is a major concern of the industry as well as the citizens.
He urged the board to consult the industrial sector for any future cooperation and guidance. CEO and Chairman KITE, Zubair Chhaya emphasized that SSWM should be activated to play an affective role in sold waste management. Masood Naqi mentioned that industries made several complaints to restrict waste dumping at surrounding areas of EBM causeway and Malir River but of no use. He further said we have warned the authorities that dumping of waste could cause a huge crisis anytime in the future.
