All shopping and commercial centres in the industrial city were remained closed while roads wore a deserted look at the Joint call of Cloth Board Faisalabad, Anjuman-e-Tajran, Pakistan Sunni Tehrik, District Bar Association Faisalabad and other religious parties as a mark of protest against Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah protestors at Faizabad in Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, on the directives of the Punjab government, University of Agriculture Faisalabad including its sub-campuses and schools will remain closed for two days from November 27 to November 28 due to prevailing law and order situation, said UAF spokesman Dr Jalal Arif on Sunday. Lawyers announced to continue its strike and protest on Monday November 27. People are also facing shortage of oil on petrol pumps.
Shopping centres in and around Chowk Clock Tower, including Faisalabad Yarn Market, All cloth markets, grey cloth market, jewelry shops, medicine markets, show market, electronic shops, were closed. No business was conducted in fruit & vegetable markets, and grain markets, due to non-arrival of goods carriers. The busiest places in the Industrial city were also deserted. Inter City transport remained off roads due to wide scale blockage of roads at various places. Only taxis and rickshaws were seen picking up passengers, charging extra money from them.
Dozens of activists of Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah and Sunni Tehreek staged protests and blocked major roads in Faisalabad Division to protest action against the Faizabad protesters.
In Faisalabad, a large number of religious hardliners blocked Sheikhupura road set tires alight, disrupting vehicular traffic. Five people, a policeman among them, were injured when the protesters clashed with police in the area. A large number of activists of the protesting religious parties also gathered at the Chowk Clock Tower and chanted slogans against the government, and established "Protest Dharna", where eight bazaars were completely closed as a mark of the protest.
In other city area, dozens of workers of the religious parties gathered at the key link inter section and blocked the road connecting the other cities.
