Uninterrupted gas supply started from February 2016, after the import of RLNG, will continue this year. This was disclosed by Hanif Ramey, General Manager Distribution Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).
He was addressing a meeting in Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) in which large number of industrialists also participated. He said that there was extreme shortage of gas before 2016. However, since February 2016, the continual gas loadshedding has been brought to an end and no more loadshedding of gas is expected in the next many years.
He said that second terminal of RLNG is expected to be completed up to till 28-29 November this year. Its capacity will be 600 million cubic feet per day which would be quite sufficient to meet our domestic needs.
He said that as directed by the SNGPL, all pending applications of industrial and commercial connections are being processed on fast track basis. He said that despite of providing available RLNG to power houses, there would be surplus gas with SNGPL to cater to the needs of other consumers.
"Up till now two connections to local industrial units have been installed while demand notices to another 40 industrial applicants have also been issued. As soon as the payment of these demand notices was made, supply of imported gas will be started to these units without any delay. "The cost of this gas will be Rs 970/per mmbtu", he clarified.
Responding to a question, he said that gas is also being provided to private residential colonies however; in this respect gas would be supplied through bulk meter to the owner of the colony. "The internal arrangements for the supply of gas within the colony would be made by the specific developer", he added.
Responding to yet another question, he said that the industrial units situated in the congested residential areas will get gas connection on their previous terms and conditions if they shift their units to the three notified industrial estates of the city.
He said that M3, whole Kurrianwala and Small Industrial Estate Sargodha Road are included in these Industrial areas. Talking about the Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC) and different rates of gas within the country, he said that these issues are not in his control. As regards classification of system gas and imported RLNG, the concerned department will provide them exact calculations etc.
Later, Senior Vice President Sheikh Farooq Yusuf offered vote of thanks while Executive member Khalid Mehmood Shah presented FCCI shield to General Manager SNGPL. Former President and Chairman Standing Committee on CPEC Engineer Rizwan Ashraf also presented a Book on "CPEC" to Deputy General Manager SNGPL Mr. Shahid Iqbal.
Former presidents FCCI Mian Aftab Ahmed, Khalid Habib Sheikh, Naveed Gulzar, Khalid Mehmood Shah and Executive Engineer SNGPL Suhail Abid were also present during the meeting.
