Former vice-chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) Prof. Dr. Sardar Fakhar Imam has expressed concern over surge in burden of diabetes and called for raising awareness among people to adopt healthy lifestyle to avoid complications of the disease. He said this while addressing a clinical symposium on 'Diabetes, Complications and Role of Media' held at Lahore General Hospital (LGH).
Prof. Imam maintained that key to avoid complications of diabetes is to modify lifestyle by leading simple life and proper medication. He also acknowledged the performance of PGMI for specialization in different fields of medical education. Principal Ameer uddin Medical College Prof. Dr. Ghias un Nabi Tayyab said that in the past, diabetes was the disease of rich ones but now every fourth person is victim of the disease which should be a matter of concern.
He called for raising awareness on diabetes among people so that the burden of disease could be checked. In the clinical symposium Prof. Arif Zaheer, Prof. Mohammad Moeen, Prof. Altaf Qadir, Prof. Ahsan Luqman, Prof. Farooq Afzal, Prof. Nuzhat Khawaja and Dr. Aurangzeb Afzal spoke on symptoms, control and its impact on human health.
