The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has announced special scholarship program for minorities' students of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This was stated by LUMS Assistant Manager Marketing NOP, Sharjeel Mossam while speaking at ceremony, organised jointly by Lobbying Delegation for Minorities Rights Pakistan and All Pakistan Hindu Panchayat, and Administration held at Peshawar Press Club on Saturday.
Besides, Sarabdiyal, Member National Lobbying Delegation for Minorities Rights Pakistan; senior journalist and vice president of Peshawar Press Club, Faridullah Khan; ANP leader and politician, Ashok Kumar; President Rajput Hindu Welfare Society Peshawar, Anil Kumar; Executive Member Sabash College Peshawar, Sabash Chandar; co-member Pakistan Council of World Religion (PCWR), Roniya Haroon, and a large number of notables and political activists from various districts were present on the occasion.
In his presentation, Mossam said the LUMS has announced the scholarship program for minority students belonging to Hindu, Sikh, and non-Muslim community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who secured 80 per cent or above marks in matric and intermediate exams. He said the scholarship is fully funded program of LUMS, which will be offered solely on merit.
The official said the scholarship program's main objective is to provide the best education facility to talented students belonging to Hindu and others religious minorities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and to make them notable citizens of the country.
While speaking on the occasion, the minority leaders hailed the LUMS announcement of special scholarship program for minority students of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and added that the decision would not only provide best education facility to them, but it will also help in making them notable citizens of the country.
They further said the decision has also set precedence for the provincial education institutions, and urged that KP institutions should also announce special education package for minority students which could cater their needs. It is imperative to provide the best educational facilities to the talented non-Muslim students of KP and doing so would help the minority youth to develop themselves and contribute in the progress and prosperity of county, they said and added that it also will promote inter-faith harmony in the province.
