The University of Sindh (SU) has entered into a strategic agreement with Balochistan University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) Khuzdar in a move to boost nationalization efforts in country's higher education sector. The BUET Vice Chancellor Brigadier Muhammad Ameen (Retd) called on Sindh University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat at his office.
Both the vice chancellors discussed upon working together in future by developing academic linkages, organising joint seminars, providing training to the faculty of BUET Khuzdar and exchanging the delegations of faculty and students in order to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two varsities. According to SU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat, the agreement comprises the exchange of academicians between the two universities as well as collaboration in the areas of research and publication of journals, particularly in the fields of social science, humanities and engineering which are the main thrust areas of BUET.
He said research was an important element in uplifting the image of a university especially in the handling and understanding of global challenges today. BUET Khuzdar Vice Chancellor Brigadier Muhammad Ameen (Retd) said Sindh University was the oldest University of Pakistan which had great potential to assist his varsity in the field of social sciences in order to create awareness amongst the youths of Balochistan. "SU's experts are increasingly being acknowledged at both national & international levels, we want to learn from the foreign qualified faculty of Sindh University", he said. He on the occasion sought advice from Dr Burfat on academic programmes and expertise in academic management, higher education, research and thesis writing. On the occasion, both the academic leaders agreed to organise a seminar in BUET Khuzdar wherein SU vice chancellor would speak on social issues of Balochistan.
