Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Sirajul Haq Wednesday said that rulers have corrupted the state institutions created for accountability, saying that institutions like National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) are not ready to take any action against the corrupt elite.
Talking to reporters here, Sirajul Haq said if the rulers seriously want to wipe out terrorism from the country, they should stop plundering the national resources to give the citizens due rights. Haq said that the rulers' craze for amassing wealth and building personal empires through fair and foul means has created a sense of deprivation among the general public, besides causing tension and strong reaction.
He said that the rulers claiming to be 'Khadim' of the masses are enjoying lavish lifestyles, whereas layman is finding it hard to make both ends meet with paying higher taxes and utilities bills. The general public, he said, is seriously affected by the lawlessness, price spiral, unemployment and they are waiting for a saviour for them. He said unless fair and just distribution of national resources is ensured, breeding places of terrorism could not be eradicated.
The JI emir said that cancer of corruption has crept all over the society and even President Mamnoon Hussain has publicly stated that the government departments are packed with corrupt officials. Absence of basic human facilities, especially in health, education and housing sectors, has virtually made majority of the public mentally sick.
He said that summer is still far away but duration of electricity load shedding has been increased. He also criticised the fresh raise in the POL prices. He said that the rulers have corrupted the state institutions created for accountability and the NAB and the FIA are not ready to take any action against the corrupt elite.
The JI emir, however, said the masses are pinning hope on Supreme Court to deliver a judgement against corruption as the verdict would demolish the bastions of corruption, besides ensuring a bright and safe future for the nation and country. Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Sirajul Haq assured the people if the JI is voted to power, it would recover the plundered wealth from the corrupt rulers to divert it towards public welfare.
