The police on Wednesday claimed to have killed eight suspected terrorists involved in sectarian killings including a key commander of a banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) here. SSP District Malir Rao Anwar said his team following a tip-off, conducted a targeted raid at a hideout in Malir's Bakra Pairi area, early in the morning. As police reached at the location, the terrorists resorted to firing that ensued encounter, resultantly eight militants including Tehrik-e-Taliban Tank's district leader Gull Zaman were killed.
He said Gull was planning to execute a terrorist attack in the metropolis. Similarly, a 16-year-old boy suspected of being a suicide bomber was also killed in the encounter. Another terrorist, Taj Arif Lala was involved in numerous targeted killings and kidnapping cases.
They were wanted in a number of criminal cases including target killing activities. The police have seized a laptop bomb among other weapons from their possessions during the course of actions. Identifications of other killed terrorists were yet to be ascertained till filing of this report. It may be relevant to mention here that Rao Anwar who is considered to be an 'encounter specialist' has been busy carrying out raids and encounters against criminals and has claimed to have killed a number of terrorists belonging to various banned organisations. On February 17, Rao claimed to have gunned down nine terrorists in superhighway area. The killed militants, he said, were planning to target Rangers Headquarters in Karachi.
