Speakers for updating curriculum of industrial engineering in varsities
The two-day International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Management Applications (IEMA-2017) has commenced at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET, Jamshoro, Sindh, jointly organised by MUET and UET Peshawar, supported by Higher Education Commission (HEC).
The conference is aimed to deliberate on latest developments and results in Industrial Engineering and Management Applications to equip keep young scholars and entrepreneurs with cutting-edge knowledge and prepare for industrial growth in Pakistan. Vice Chancellor MUET Professor Dr Aslam Uqaili said, "Universities need to move from knowledge creation to the stage of knowledge integration. This has been realised in MUET where seven patents are approved and faculty research is linked to the industry to prove that this knowledge created in universities is able to address industrial needs and generating more demand for hi-tech innovation".
Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain, UET Peshawar, as the guest of honour of the conference said, "Pakistan is facing energy crisis and slow industrialisation due to lack of trained human resource and infrastructure. This needs to be addressed in a competitive environment which is before us in form of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) where Industrial engineers will play a pivotal role in a fast growing industry and technology". This is high time that industrial engineering departments in universities should train their students on industry operations and management.
Professor Dr Hussain Beaux Marri conference convenor and the Chairman Department of industrial Engineering MUET, Jamshoro said the conference will present 85 research publications from researchers and hold five technical sessions during two days. Dr Sahr Noor Chairman Department of industrial Engineering, UET Peshawar said, Masters and Ph,D students of Industrial engineering Department will present five research publications to be published in International journals.
