In the wake of recent horrific acts of terrorism in different parts of the country, the Punjab Emergency Services (Rescue 1122) has been put on high alert to deal with any kind of untoward incident through a well coordinated emergency response.
Director General Emergency Services Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer on Saturday reviewed preparedness of districts keeping in view the present security situation across the country. He asked the District Emergency Officers (DEO) to ensure the highest level of preparedness and alertness, to deal with any kind of untoward incident through well coordinated emergency response. Progress on implementing the project of patient transfer service (PTS), which is being implemented across the Punjab on trial basis, was also reviewed.
It may be added that total 507 ambulances of health department have been handed over to Rescue 1122 so far while a 'Fleet Management Cell' has been established in Rescue 1122 Headquarters to ensure proper monitoring of emergency ambulances and the ambulances of the PTS.
The DG stressed upon the DEOs to ensure implementation of SOPs on mass gatherings, processions, rallies including cordoning off the area, establishment of incident command post and sequential operational strategy. He further highlighted the importance of diligent evaluation of rescuers while categorizing them in A, B, C categories so that hard working rescuers can be given incentives. In this meeting, the issue of establishment of ambulance services desk in emergency departments of teaching hospitals of the Punjab was discussed.
