Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said citizens have been deprived of recreation facilities by china cutting mafia after converting the parks and playgrounds into marriage lawns and residential apartments. Such facilities were meant to promote healthy activities in the city and therefore all these will be restored and handed over to citizens of Karachi.
He said this on a visit of Aziz Bhatti Park and different areas of district East along with Chairman of DMC East Moeed Anwer, Director General Technical Services Shahab Anwer, DG Parks Afaq Mirza, Sr Director MS Masood Alam and other officers. Mayor Karachi said efforts were on to provide healthy recreation facilities to people in those areas especially where they live in very small houses. Mayor Karachi directed Parks department to supply water to big parks through treatment plants so that greenery in these parks could be maintained. He said a thousand gallon treatment plant was working in Aziz Bhatti Park successfully and others parks can also have water with this model. Mayor Wasim Akhtar said the rehabilitation process in Aziz Bhatti Park being started which would provide recreation.
